ReDefine Arts (established in 2005 as Red Dress Productions) creates and presents interdisciplinary and community grounded performance, installations and public artworks that advance disability justice, collaborative processes, and artistic innovation. As an artist, a writer, a tradeswoman and a survivor of childhood sexual abuse and domestic violence it is a privilege to be asked by Lanark County Interval House & Community Support (LCIHCS) to speak at the unveiling of The Countdown Public Art Project mosaic.  Come out at 5:30 p.m. to show your support.

Month of June, 2023 - Rusted Development Art Show & Display, Arbor Gallery

The Mission of Arbor Gallery – Galerie Arbor in Vankleek Hill is to generate opportunities to reflect, nurture and challenge the diversity of artistic expression and appreciation.  Very grateful to be invited to read and discuss the writing process with patrons and visitors of the Gallery.  June is both a celebration of PRIDE, and of Indigenous History.  As a queerishly two-spirted Citizen of the Métis Nation of Ontario I am blessed to be offered this opportunity to show and display my art.  Called Rusted Development, it is a “re-imagination of the ordinary.” 

Friday, June 23rd - 2023, Tartan Turban Secret Reading Room Series

The Tartan Turban Secret Readings were launched to mark Canada’s 150th anniversary by the series curators, poet Gavin Barrett and late author, Mayank Bhatt. The Readings celebrate and support Canadian writers with a special focus on those who self-identify as black, indigenous or people of colour.  Big thank you to Lisa de Nikolets for the invitation to read.  I am grateful for the opportunity and it promises to be a wonderful evening!  Barrett and Welsh, 577 Kingston Road. Readings begin at 7 pm and run till 10 pm.

Wednesday, November 30th, 2022 - Writing our Stories

Writing our Stories, hosted by Lanark County Interval House, and Carleton Place Public Library.  An opportunity to gather in a safe place, listen to readings by Lorrie Potvin, author of First Gear – A Motorcycle Memoir and Horses in the Sand, and Brenda Missen, author of Tell Anna She’s Safe, and her most recent memoir Tumblehome – One Woman’s Canoeing Adventures in the Divine Near Wilderness.  Discussion, writing and a sharing circle will complete the afternoon.  Details forthcoming for times and registration.  Very grateful for this opportunity.

Premier’s Awards 2022,  celebrating outstanding college graduates while honouring the important social and economic contributions that graduates have made Ontario and beyond.  The Awards recognize graduates in seven categories – Apprenticeship, Business, Community Services, Creative Arts and Design, Health Sciences, Recent Graduate and Technology. I’ve been nominated for Apprenticeship.  Truly blessed and what an honour!

Thursday, November 17th, 2022 - Inanna's Fall Launch Party!

It’s happening!  Inanna Publications, an independent feminist press based out of Toronto, is having a party to celebrate 2022’s cohort of authors and to launch the wonderful books they’ve written.  In person, with people!  The venue is the Danu Social House, 7:00 p.m. mingle, readings at 8:00 p.m.  Event details and schedule of authors still to be determined.  Show up and have some fun!

Tuesday, November 1st, 2022 - LPG's Indie Reading Room Series

LPG – The Literary Press Group of Canada is hosting a ten author event at The Staircase Theatre on Dundern St. in Hamilton.  Truly blessed to be invited and am really looking forward to being among people in a great venue. From 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., drinks and munchies included, it is truly shaping up to be a memorable evening! Supported by Epic Books.  Hope to see you there.

Open Book - Writer in Residence for October 2022

Open Book’s Writer in Residence virtual program hosts award winning poets, writers, and artists.  I’m truly honoured and blessed to be asked to be the Writer in Residence for October 2022.  I’m also excited, a little nervous, but looking forward to sharing those things that help feed my spirit and creativity.  It should be fun!  Maarsii, chi meegwetch, and thank you to Open Book for having me.

Algonquin College Alumni of Distinction Awards.  An evening to celebrate the outstanding achievements of the many graduates of Algonquin College.  I’m truly honoured to be receiving the Alumni of Distinction award for Apprenticeship having graduated from the Auto Body Repair class of 1985. The evening starts at 6:00 p.m. Tickets are available here.  Come and help celebrate this amazing group of recipients.

Wednesday, July 14th, 2022 - Write By The Lake with Rick Taylor

15th Annual Write by the Lake.  Hosted by Richard Taylor at his home nestled in the beautiful hills of western Quebec north of Ottawa.  Rick is an author, writing teacher, sculptor, surfer, and open-water swimmer who has published a collection of short stories, and an Australian travel memoir, House Inside the Waves: Domesticity, Art and the Surfing Life.  The midday session will include a reading with a question and answer session, followed by an informal chat over lunch.  Possibly a swim . . . ; )

Saturday, June 18th, 2022 - Horses in the Sand Launch - Multi-Author Event

Join us for the launch of Horses in the Sand, a memoir written by Lorrie Potvin that documents her journey to becoming a tradeswoman, teacher, and artist.  Lorrie will be joined by Cheryl Sutherland, author of Alchemy: A Geography of Love and Brenda Missen, who will read from Tumblehome.  It’s sure to be a memoirable event!
